Soldering a battery on a Chocofi Wireless

Disclaimer: This guide is for educational purpose. This site is not responsible for damage or losses that may occur from use of this material. This guide might contain outdated or incorrect information.

You should consult a local electrician, technical, or a drone repair shop to install the battery for you if you are not experienced in soldering.

Incorrectly connecting a battery might cause fire or explosion. Double check with the polarity. Please also read the nice!nano documentation at https://nicekeyboards.com/docs before starting this guide.

In the most recent version (August 2023) of the pre-soldered Chocofi Wireless keyboard, we've added a JST battery socket into the board, eliminating the need for soldering tools.

For the recommended battery type and installation instructions for nice!view displays, please refer to the guide available at https://docs.beekeeb.com/other-guides/how-to-install-nice-view-battery-and-test-the-wireless-corne-keyboard.

Testing the Keyboard with a USB Connection

If you have a nice!view version, you can check if the screen works, before soldering the battery wires.

The screen should turn on when there is a USB connection. But the slave side might not trigger key presses.

Install the Battery on the Bottom Side

If you want to quickly test the keyboard, you can solder the battery wires onto the bottom side. But this is not compatible with a tight 3D printed case. You will need a thicker case or a sandwich case.

It's recommended to turn off the keyboard first.

Solder the battery wires one by one according to the polarity. Never short the battery wires.

Alternative - Install the Battery on the Top Side

It's recommended to turn off the keyboard first.

A 301230 battery can be installed on the top side, under the microcontroller. The sockets for nice!view and microcontrollers are very delicate. Gently remove the nice!view with the nice!nano controller at the same time, because there is a wire connecting them together.

Solder the battery wires one by one according to the polarity. Never short the battery wires.
